Doubling farmers' income by 2022 is a national commitment to be achieved by increasing productivity of crops, reducing harvest and postharvest losses, assuring Minimum Support Price (MSP) to farmers and Minimum Import Price (MIP) for many of the plantation crops. The 17 chapters authored by 36 working scientists in State Agricultural Universities and ICAR Research Institutes throw light on 'HORTICULTURE SCIENCES FOR DOUBLING FARMERS' INCOME' made during the last decade. India was ranked 108 in Global Hunger Index in 2021 and the dream of Mahathma Gandhi to transform India as Zero Hidden Hunger remain elusive. Hidden hunger (Malnutrition) leads to anaemia, low body weight, high child mortality and loss in working hours. Establishment of Nutri Gardens and emphasis on consumption of greens will facilitate a healthy diet.
