Volume I: 'Sale and Lease' - Second Edition. The boards are worn, scuffed, marked all about. They are tight and sure. The front pages have previous owner stamps. The contents have pencilled annotations; the pages have handling, age-related marks throughout. The pages are benign, certain, competent, clear. Volume 2: 'Wills' (pub 1896), First Edition. The boards are scuffed, marked by hand and stacking, worn, steady. The front pastedown has a previous owner stamp for Arthur Shacksnovis, who in addition to being a KC, was also the first person to broadcast a rugby match in South Africa. However, his career was short-lived when he was caught out: "And Bernie Osler has the ball, he is going to dropkick, no that was a feint, he dashes forward, side-steps, swerves, he is through the gap, he is going to score - fuck him he lost the ball!" The early pages have wear and age discolouration. The title page has a corner clipped away. Besides these distractions, the contents are clean, clear, confident, more than competent.
