In den WarenkorbWraps. Zustand: Very good. [2], 29, [1] pages, including covers. Issue for March 31, 2019. Photo illustration of Nancy Pelosi by Marvin Joseph. Article runs from pages 10 through 17, including photographs. Nancy Pelosi never thought that Donald Trump would be elected president, but in many ways she has been preparing for this political battle all of her life. First elected to Congress in a special election in 1987 and now in her 17th term, she is experienced in all of Washington's various forms of combat, power, and perseverance. She is the first woman to lead a political party in all of Washington's various forms of combat, power, and perseverance. She is the first woman to lead a political party in Congress and, in 2007, was the first woman to become speaker of the House. After Democrats won control of the House in November following eight years out of power, Pelosi fended off an effort by some in her party to replace her, and reclaimed the speakership. Now in her fourth decade as an elected representative, Pelosi is at the outset of a term that will almost certainly be the most critical of her career. Pelosi states that "there are a range of views in her caucus, and we respect that." But we are unified. People compliment me and they say, "Oh, you know, you can keep them all together" I don't. Our values unify us." As usual, this issue has other articles and its regular features. Presumed First Edition, First printing thus. Marvin Joseph (cover photograph) (illustrator).…

The Post launched the magazine in its current form in 1986, though it had published a print Sunday magazine for the previous quarter century. The Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies (FedSoc) is an American conservative and libertarian legal organization that advocates for a textualist and originalist interpretation of the United States Constitution. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., it has chapters at every U.S. law school and features student, lawyer, and faculty divisions; the lawyers division comprises more than 70,000 practicing attorneys in ninety cities. Through speaking events, lectures, and other activities, it provides a forum for members of the legal profession, the judiciary, and the legal academy. It is one of the most influential legal organizations in the United States. The Federalist Society was founded in 1982 by a group of students from Yale Law School, Harvard Law School, and the University of Chicago Law School with the aim of challenging liberal or left-wing ideology within elite American law schools and universities. The organization's stated objectives are "checking federal power, protecting individual liberty and interpreting the Constitution according to its original meaning",and it plays a central role in networking and mentoring young conservative lawyers. It vetted President Donald Trump's list of potential U.S. Supreme Court nominees; in March 2020, 43 out of 51 of Trump's appellate court nominees were current or former members of the society. Of the current nine members of the Supreme Court of the United States, at least five are current or former members of the organization-Brett Kavanaugh, Neil Gorsuch, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, and Amy Coney Barrett. Chief Justice John Roberts previously served as a member of the steering committee of the Washington, D.C., chapter, but denies ever being a member. Presumed first edition/first printing thus. …

NOTE: On November 30, 2022 The Washington Post announced that it will stop publishing its stand-alone print magazine, one of the last of its kind in the country and which has been published under different names for more than six decades, and that the December 25, 2002 issue will be its last. The Post launched the magazine in its current form in 1986, though it had published a print Sunday magazine for the previous quarter century. On January 6, 2021, following the defeat of then-U.S. President Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election, a large group of his supporters marched to the United States Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. The group was seeking to keep Trump in power by preventing a joint session of Congress from counting the electoral college votes to formalize the victory of President-elect Joe Biden. Many people were injured, including 138 police officers. Called to action by Trump, thousands of his supporters gathered in Washington, D.C., on January 5 and 6 to support his claim that the 2020 election had been "stolen by emboldened radical-left Democrats" and to demand that Vice President Mike Pence and the Congress reject Biden's victory. Starting at noon on January 6, at a "Save America" rally on the Ellipse, Trump repeated his claims of election irregularities and said "If you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore." During and after his speech, thousands of attendees walked to the Capitol, and hundreds breached police perimeters as Congress was beginning the electoral vote count. More than 2,000 protesters entered the building, some of whom: occupied and vandalized it; battled with Capitol Police officers and reporters; and attempted to locate lawmakers. Some vandalized the offices of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and other members of Congress. With building security breached, Capitol Police evacuated and locked down both chambers of Congress and several buildings in the Capitol Complex. Protesters occupied the empty Senate chamber while federal law enforcement officers defended the evacuated House floor. In a Twitter video, he reasserted that the election was "fraudulent," but told his supporters to "go home in peace". The Capitol was clear of protesters by mid-evening, and the counting of the electoral votes resumed and was completed in the early morning hours of January 7. Pence declared President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris victorious. Trump later committed to an orderly transition of power in a televised statement.
