Wraps. [8], vi, 170 p, Footnotes. Major Events in Ting Ling's Life. Bibliography. Index. One of the author's purged by the Chinese Communist Party was Ting Ling. Her early writings gave expression to the feelings of intellectuals, and of women in particular. Her writings attracted large numbers of young people. Her keen individualism and her freedom-seeking spirit were incompatible with the basic nature of Communism. In 1933 she was arrested for taking part in political activities. She later fled to Yenan. Although she initially thrived under the Chinese Communist regime in 1957 the Party Committee of the Writer's union accused her of being a 'rightist' and sent into obscurity. Good. No dust jacket as issued. Rear cover creased.
