Lieure made a name for himself in the field of collecting prints, compiling a collection of Callot, thus for printmaking he is deemed "a true apostle of engraving", according to the newspaper L'Amateur d'estampes. He animated the small world of amateurs by participating in learned societies, promoting the practice, giving conferences, etc. Also a collector, he surrounded himself with several collections of prints: one of the work of Jacques Callot (1,370 pieces), which he sold to the Museum of Fine Arts in the city of Nancy in 1940.
