Published in 1875, this is the first edition of this book on The Geology of Rutland, and the surrounding area covered by sheet 64 of the one-inch map of the Geological Survey Bound in the original cloth, over 10 inches tall, 320 pages plus lithographic illustrations, other figures within th…e text, and three folding hand-coloured sections The book covers is unevenly faded, with some marking, and small splits to cloth at spine ends and spine edges, some edge and corner bumping, internally browning to page edges, rear section of fossil lists pages are more noticeably browned, a number of pages remain unopened along top edge (see pictures) this could be easily resolved with the use of a knife (a blunt knife is more effective for doing this) some occasional handling marks else contents in acceptable condition.
