In den WarenkorbThree works in one volume, 8vo, pp. 107; [iv], iv, 162; [vi], 52; contemporary half calf, spine gilt (hinges cracked, repaired at top of upper hinge). Early inscription and stamp of S. Hancock, 1857; bookplate of William Allen Potter. Three rare volumes of poetry bound together, from the collection of the eminent Nottingham collector W.A. Potter. This appears to be Lucy Joynes's second volume of poetry, following on from a volume designed for children published in 1817 (no copy of the first edition was located by Jackson). She clearly lived in or near Nottingham, and one of the poems celebrates the sight of the city illuminated by gas; another laments the death of Princess Charlotte; and others are more whimsical, such as an 'Address to a Tea-Pot'. Copac locates copies at the BL and Bodleian only. Jackson, Romantic Poetry by Women, 177/2. John Hicklin was also from the city, and his volume of poems has a list of subscribers which features the name of James Montgomery, the poet and journalist who lived at Sheffield. Thomas Brock apparently lived on Guernsey, as he dedicates his book from there, to Lady Saumarez.
