Copyright page dated 1934. 280 pages. Boards have some very light rubbing and fading around their edges. Spine is toned slightly darker than boards. Black lettering on front board and… spine is neat and legible. Shelf cocked. Cloth covering over spine has minimal amount of wear at top and bottom edges. Similar wear at corners. Boards are securely held in place by binding and free of any significant damage. Fore edges are evenly toned. One page synopsis of this title located on front free endpaper. Pages are very lightly but evenly toned and text remains clear and legible. "To Isabel, By whose rare charm the character, Gretchen, in this story was conceived to us. - The Authors" printed on page before title page. 10 page prologue after title page.
