A cult magazine, Literal, like Martín Fierro in th…e 1920s, had a strange influence on Argentina in the 1970s. It brought a perverse novelty: the slow distillation of psychoanalysis in literature, which a few years earlier, at the hands of Oscar Masotta, produced the hybrid of a cross between the unconscious and the letter. The result was an extreme proposal that many drank from to clarify things and produce texts. The secret of "the Literal generation" (as academic critics would later baptize them) was simply rhetorical: to shift forces in the field of argumentation. Its members were a group of boys, the times were not tame: the turbulence of Cámpora in power, the return and death of Perón, the military coup of '76. The illustrious ancestors were announced by Osvaldo Lamborghini in what he called "the caste of knowledge and language", namely: Macedonio, Girondo, Borges. Germán García published an epilogue to El fiord de Lamborghini, yes, but he did it undercover behind his middle name (Leopoldo) and his second surname (Fernández). Lamborghini himself promised to write an invisible book of critical imagination that he never wrote. Its title matches that of this prologue. From Paris, Sarduy launched the most hermetic definition of the baroque: Everything to convince , and Lacan completed the proposal with that masterful and no less hermetic class on the baroque that appeared in the magazine. The Literal proposal lasted just four years and only three volumes appeared. But from number 1 and through the bars of numbers 2/3 and 4/5, a political, social and economic Argentina was making a frog leap that today seems endless. In this sense, and only in this sense, it could be calculated that Literal was longer-lived than Sur. The composition of the successive drafting and management committees varied from García, Lamborghini, Gusmán and Lorenzo Quinteros to Lamborghini, García, Gusmán and Jorge Quiroga, and to García alone.
