Vintage portrait photograph of Sally O'Neil from the 1936 film, with two stamps on the verso, including a stamp crediting photographer Ray Jones, and a mimeo snipe on the verso. From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s. Sally O'Neil was a stage and silent and early sound film star who starred in over 40 films between 1925 and 1937, usually in leading roles. O'Neil retired from film in 1937 but continued to perform on Broadway and toured with the USO in the 1940s. Victor Jory stars a hard-nosed mining engineer brought to an accident plagued mountain tunnel project, behind time and close to being shut down, and with the help of a spunky reporter, played by Sally O'Neil, discovers workers being paid by a rival to sabotage the project. 8 x 10 inches.
