FIRST EDITION, last few gatherings carelessly opened at fore-edge, pp. iv, 235, 8vo, original pink pebble-grained cloth, printed paper label on spine, unevenly faded, spine a bit worn. Douglas was governor of the workhouse in Maryport, in Cumberland, and one of the poems, of 8 pages, is 'The Poor House', the inhabitants of which are described in some detail. Other poems are 'On Emigrants sailing to America', 'On the Death of Mr. H. Senhouse, jun.' (builder of Maryport, named for his wife), and 'On visiting the Monument of Burns.'
