This Field Operating Agency has 34 personnel consisting of a mix of senior Department of the Army Civilians and Army Officers with specialized CBRN technical expertise.The organization provides deployable team to assist Army Service Component Commands and select Combatant Command staffs with CWMD planning expertise, and supports the development of Army CWMD capabilities. The Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Graduate Fellowship Program is an initiative sponsored by the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Defense (ASD(NCB)). The program is administered by the National Defense University Center for the Study of Weapons of Mass Destruction on behalf of the ASD(NCB) with contracting assistance from the Joint Requirements Office for CBRN Defense, J8, Joint Staff.The goal of the CWMD Graduate fellowship is to build an enduring cadre of national security leaders intellectually and experientially equipped to meet future WMD challenges and to function in an interagency capacity in support of the US Government's CWMD mission.The CWMD Graduate Fellowship Program provides an opportunity for national security professionals who demonstrate exceptional promise for future government service to engage in a rigorous educational experience leading to either a graduate certificate or a master of science degree in WMD Studies. The academic program is conducted jointly by the National Defense University (NDU) Center for the Study of Weapons of Mass Destruction and Missouri State University (MSU) Graduate Department of Defense and Strategic Studies, which hosts one of the foremost WMD Studies programs in the world.
