John Worby (born 1911) was an English tramp memoirist and self-described spiv. He is best known for his controversial memoir The Other Half, which chronicled his experiences of homelessness, vagrancy and petty criminality across Britain and North America. The book is bound in the original cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The book is in very good condition and the contents are tight and clean with light foxing to the endpapers and some damp marking around the top edge of the fixed endpapers. There is no inscription. The unclipped dustwrapper has shelf wear with light soiling and the spine is slightly sunned. The top of the spine is bumped and nicked. There is a tear of about 1 1/4" on the top of the front spine edge that has been repaired on the reverse with tape.
