Durch einen präzisen Schnitt mit dem Skalpell oftmals mitten durch das Gesicht der Porträtierten greift Stezaker zunächst brachial in die Fotografie ein, um sie dann auf eine andere zu montieren. Kombiniert er Porträts und Postkarten, kommt er ohne Schnitt aus, allerdings wird beides so übereinandergelegt, dass die ursprünglich abgebildete Person nicht mehr zu erkennen ist. Durch diese aus heutiger Sicht herrlich altmodisch anmutende Arbeitsweise der manuellen Fotocollage wird etwas sichtbar gemacht, das im Computerzeitalter längst verloren geglaubt war: die Spuren der Manipulation und der visuellen Bruchstellen im fotografischen Bild. The Editorial mission statement reads: 'The policy of Frameworks journal is to publish the theoretical work of artists together with contributions by philosophers and others whose work include…s a study of art in a variety of conceptual frameworks. The purpose of this is to bring to bear 'external' criteria upon theoretical art-work and thus to provide a means of 'demarcation' of the activity, both 'externally' and 'internally'. In this way, it is hoped to put the new theoretical work of artists under the scrutiny of theoreticians whose disciplines have a long history of theoretical sophistication, and also, to correct certain ideas held to by theoreticians about art from outside the field by contact with the theoretical writings of artists themselves.'
