Illustrated with thirty-two colour plates to each volume, including the frontispieces. Collated, complete. Two Adam & Charles Black colour-illustrated travel works on Egypt and the "Holy Land", the latter being the spiritually significant geographical area, centered around the city of Jerusalem and encompassing parts of modern-day Israel, Palestine, Jordan and parts of Lebanon and Syria. Each work provides a historical, geographical and generally topographical glimpse into its subjects, as described by Robert Talbot Kelly, an orientalist landscape artist and author, and John Kelman. With artwork also provided by Robert Talbot Kelly and the popular English landscape painter John Fulleylove. Uniformly bound in the publisher's original blue cloth. Externally, smart with slight bumping and rubbing, resulting in minor loss of cloth, primarily to the spine heads and tails. Boards feature the odd mark, the most notable being to the title of Egypt.
