Eigenhändiger Brief (1,5 S. 4° in Tinte, eng beschrieben und Adreß-Seite mit Poststempeln, rotem Wachssiegel) mit Ort, Datum, Unterschrift signiert Observatory, Regent s Park London, 19.VII.1847 - an den Astronomen Heinrich Louis d'Arrest (1822-75, deutsch - dänischer Astronom , der in Deutschland und Kopenhagen wirkte. Er entdeckte mehrere Kometen , den Asteroiden (76) Freia sowie 342 Deep-Sky -Objekte. Darüber hinaus war er Mitentdecker des Planeten Neptun . Er ist vor allem durch seine Forschungen über Asteroiden und Kometen bekannt geworden, aber auch wesentlich an der Entschlüsselung von Galaxienhaufen beteiligt.) Inhaltlich interessanter und wichtiger Brief an den damaligen Leiter der Sternwarte Berlin d Arrest vom britischen Astronomen John Russell Hind (1823-1895). Hind wurde 1840 am Observatorium von Greenwich als Assistent in der magnetischen Abteilung angestellt. Hier arbeitete er unter George Biddell Airy. 1844 beteiligte er sich an der Expedition zur Bestimmung der geographischen Länge von Valencia in Venezuela. In der Folgezeit arbeitete er als Beobachter an der Privatsternwarte von George Bishop im Regent?s Park. Hier entdeckte er zwischen 1847 und 1854 insgesamt zehn Asteroiden sowie mehrere Kometen. An den Astronomen Heinrich Louis d?Arrest (1822 - 1875), der in Deutschland und Kopenhagen wirkte und Entdecker mehrerer Kometen und des Asteroiden Freia war. Hind bedankt sich für die Nachricht über W. Henke's neue Entdeckungen und die Wiederentdeckung des Kometen vom 6.
