Good to Very Good condition overall with wear to leather cover mostly on spine and edges. Joints and binding strong. Clean and unmarked with some page tanning, as pictured. A nice copy! James Thomson (1700-1748) was a Scottish poet and playwright. M. W. Turner.Written by James Thomson (1700-1748), a British poet and playwright, known for having written the words of 'Rule, Britannia', as well as 'The Seasons' and 'The Castle of Indolence'. This was his most influential work.With a life of the author by Patrick Mulroch.Richly illustrated with engravings by various hands.A lovely leather-bound copy of this work. In a full crushed morocco binding. Externally generally smart; rubbed to the raised bands, the head of the spine, the extremities and joints. Ownership inscription to the front endpaper.
