Good solid binding with no cracking to joints. Light foxing to blanks, very clean text throughout. From the library of Williamstrip Park, Coln St. Aldwyns - seat of the Hicks-Beach family. Inscribed to verso of front free endpaper by Sir Michael Hicks Beach; 1st Earl of St. Aldwyn and 9th Baronet of Beverston. He had a long political career serving as a Conservative MP from 1864 until 1906, twice serving as Chancellor of the Exchequer and briefly as Leader of the Opposition in 1886. .
