In den WarenkorbHardcover. dj. Octavo, 8.5 in. x 5.8 in., pp. xxi, [3], 70, [1]. Limited edition, #111/750, signed by the author on the limited edition page. Dark brown buckram boards with gilt title to spine. Light shelfwear to bottom-edge. Light green heavy-weight paper. Red and black ink, with dark green drop caps, throughout. Previous owner…'s bookplate to front free endpaper. "June 1976" (the month of publication) tidily written in ink to bottom of dustjacket's front flap. Between the ninth and the tenth century, in an unknown European abbey, an anonymous author told the story of an Irish monk and his fourteen companions who embarked on a dangerous journey in the fifth century. The monk's name was Brendan, and his destination was the Terra repromissionis sanctorum, the Promised Land of the saints. The text, known as Navigatio Sancti Brendani abbatis, is the account of an incredible adventure through fantastic landscapes, but - as many narrative texts set in the "fantastic" - it combines legendary elements with useful details about the author's culture, beliefs, and even mental attitude. (from Medievalists). Very Good Plus / Very Good Plus. Signed.
