In den WarenkorbCloth. Zustand: Good. Not Stated (illustrator). First edition. Illustrated with a stereographic frontispiece, this is the scarce first edition of John Mounteney Jephson's charming account of his walking tour through Brittany. A scarce first edition. Illustrated with a stereographed frontispiece, and a folding map. Collated, complete. An accompanying set of stereographs were available to purchase seperately when this volume was originally published. They are not present here, and are vanishingly scarce. A travel narrative describing a pedestrian journey through the Brittany region of France, recording observations on Breton towns, landscapes, customs, religious practices, and local character, and combining travel description with commentary on the historical and cultural features of the region as encountered during the tour. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with light handling marks to cloth. Otherwise, externally excellent. Internally, binding lightly strained to start, with one gathering somewhat tender and with one leaf of contents and folding map detached and loosely inserted. Pages bright and clean, with only the odd spot. Good. book.
