"John Horne Bjurns (1916-1953) was the most exciting American novelists to debut after the Second World War. His first novel, THE GALLERY, was acclaimed by many to be the best book about the war. Burns left the UO.S. to live in Italy where he died at age 36, his reputation virtually obliterated and his talent largely forgotten.
