I; occasional scattered very light foxing; discreet pencil lines near the numbers of some 'outlandish proverbs' at end of vol. II. Internally very tight and clean. The faults are minor and overall VG+ and a handsome set.

Smart 1874 facsimile editions of three literary works from the 1600s.The first work present is a four volume facsimile of Richard Head's satirical novel, 'The English Rogue'. Present here are facsimiles from volumes published between 1665 and 1680, with a frontispiece to volumes I and III, and a further plate to volume I.'The English Rogue' was one of the earliest English language novels to be translated in Europe.The next work is a two volume facsimile of the mid-seventeenth century poetry of James Smith and Sir John Mennis, a collection known as 'Musarum Deliciae, or the Muses Recreation'. Illustrated with a frontispiece to volume I, and an engraved title page to volume II.The final work is a two volume facsimile of the 1662 edition of the anonymously compiled collection of poetry 'Rump: or an Exact Collection Of the Choycest Poems and Songs relating to the Late Times'. Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece and title page to volume I.Collated, complete. In half morocco bindings, with marbled paper covered boards. A touch of rubbing to back strip head and tail. Head of front joint of Musarum volume II starting, but firmly held. Hinges strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with spotting to first and last few leaves of each volume, and instances of further spotting throughout. Very Good. book.
