Addressed to 'Dear Sir' and signed 'C. M. Ingleby'. He offers ten pounds for 'yr. copy of the Encycl: Metropolitana', and will pay the carriage if he sends it. 'I don't actually want it: but its a good book, & I'll give that as an investment.' He will send a cheque, once he receives 'a Post Card: with "yes" on it'. Ends: 'Other matters in yr. excellent Catalogue I postpone.'.

In a full cloth binding, rebacked with the original boards and spine restored. Externally, generally smart. Light discolouration and marks to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the extremities. Evidence of former loss to the spine prior to rebacking. A little cockling to the head of the rear board. Bookseller's label to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean with some odd spots, mostly to the frontispiece. Prior owner's ink inscription to the title page. Frontispiece, title page, and dedication leaf are detaching a little. Good. book.
