John Grillo (1917-2014) was an American abstract expressionist painter who was born in Lawrence, Mass. After attending the Hartford School of Fine Arts he studied in San Francisco under Richard Diebenkorn before moving to New York and taking classes with Hans Hofmann who became an important influence and supporter. A scarce book which we can find no record of anywhere. It appears to have been created by the artist himself for private distribution. A very good copy which has some curling at the right side. The rear cover is lightly soiled. Inscribed by Illustrator(s).
