Original light blue half-cloth over darker light blue cloth with gilt lettering and ruling on covers, gilt lettering on spine. Gilt top edge. Beautifully illustrated travelog of the journey to Jerusalem, it's spectacular sights, the surroundings of the city and the travels from Jerusalem to Syria. Profusely illustrated with numerous sepia-toned photographs, including a double-page panorama view of Jerusalem (4 1/8 x 14 1/2"). The highlights are twelve reproductions of watercolors by Pierre Vignal, presented with printed tissue guards. Some wear along edges of binding with with lighter blue cloth of front cover and joint with sprinkling of coffee stains and/or foxing, lightly affecting front cover on other side of gilt ruling.
