Carrick helpfully supplied an erudite dissertation on the subject to the 1839 edition. Subsequent series were edited by Alexander Roger, eventually running to the five series presented here. The work completed in 1843 with a sixth part called "Songs for the Nursery," a very valuable and curious collection of modern nursery rhymes and songs.
