Hardcover. Zustand: Poor. 1st Edition. Contemporary leather and white cloth. 8vo. 251pp. Illustrated. Inscribed by the author. A humorous work by the journalist John Albert Cockerill who served as editor on many newspapers owned by Joseph Pulitzer. He led a colorful career which included service as a drummer boy during the Civil War at age fifteen, the murder of a lawyer in a personal feud and as correspondent from Japan later in life. This copy is inscribed to fellow newspaperman Charles E. Hasbrook and has his bookplate at front. The covers are worn with heavy scuffing and soiling to the leather and cloth. The front cover is detached. The text which is printed on cheap paper is good with some edge-chipping to some of the first few pages. The bulk of the text is very good with some light tanning. Scarce. Inscribed by Author(s).
