Hardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Set in Monotype Garamond italic with ligatures and swash letters, printed by the Kynoch Press on Vidalon handmade paper. Title-page in black letter and Old Face Open, surrounded by elaborate red border; each page having an elaborate display of printers' flowers. Cased in thin boards, loosely covered in vegetable parchment printed in orange with printers' flowers and titled in black. A fine copy. The edition was fully subscribed before publication but, considering the book ill-designed and gaudy, Francis Meynell asked customers to withdraw their orders. About half the orders (for the full 725 copies) were cancelled as a consequence and Tomkinson lists 170 copies destroyed (FM says he enjoyed doing it).
