In der Praxis sind nahezu 50% der durch Dermatologen verordneten Externa Magistralrezepturen. Es ist unumgänglich, daß die Magistralrezeptur dem gegenwärtigen Stand des wissenschaftlichen Fortschrittes angepaßt wird. Obsolete Wirkstoffe müssen vermieden werden. Die Galenik soll optimalisiert werden. Ähnlich wie bei Spezialitäten soll sich der verordnende Arzt darauf verlassen können, daß bei empfohlenen Magistralrezepturen die pharmakologische Wirkung des Wirkstoffes in der Grundlage gesichert oder zumindest sehr wahrscheinlich ist.
