Vynikaji precizni znalosti hebrejstiny (Langer je patrne poslednim prazskym autorem pisicim hebrejsky) a muzicnosti (cestina prekladu je poeticka a zdarile napodobuje obraznost originalu). Ctenarum se tak dostava do ruky knizka, kterou mohou cist jako dobrou poezii, jako informaci o autorovi, jeho osudech a dile, ale take jako kulturni studii. Jiri Mordechaj Langer, vyznamny zidovsky spisovatel a basnik. Uz v mladi se zajimal o basniky-mystiky. Nejprve se zameril na dilo Otokara Breziny, pozdeji se priklonil k chasidismu. Odjel do vychodni Halice, naucil se hebrejsky, zacal se ridit nabozenskymi zvyky a plne se ponoril do studia talmudu. Spratelil se s Franzem Kafkou, stal se literatem, psal nemecky, hebrejsky a cesky. Po nemecke okupaci v roce 1939 uprchl do Palestiny. Pri ceste tezce onemocnel, zemrel predcasne v Tel Avivu 12. brezna 1943. Nejvyznamnejsim Langerovym dilem je kniha Devet bran, sbirka chasidskych legend.…
