Publisher's original illustrated cloth boards with black cloth spine, housed in the black and burgundy cloth slipcase, with black titles printed on a beige and dark orange label fixed to the backstrip. Top edge dark brown. Silver satin ribbon page marker. Illustrated endpapers and with colour plates throughout by Jim Burns. A very near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth bright and fresh, with just a tiny scuff to the tail of the spine. The contents are clean throughout, and without inscriptions or stamps. A fantastic edition of this science fiction classic. Issued in an edition of 150 copies, from which this example is numbered 48, and signed by the author Joe Haldeman, illustrator Jim Burns, and author of the foreword Ridley Scott in black ink on the colophon.
