The scarce first British edition of this collection of childrenâ??s verses and songs, in an attractive hardback (95 pages, 17.5 cm x 22.5 cm) with 10 colour plates and 2 black & white vignettes, all by Willcox Smith and all present and tissue-guarded. Published by Chatto & Windus, London, in 1912. (Was originally published in America by Duffield & Company in 1910 but this is harder to come by.) Gift inscription dated 1913 inside front cover. Very slightly loose now, and some very small tears and repairs, but no childish scribbles or marks. Half inch splits at top.

REPRINT circa 1930, 4to, 290 x 215 mm, 11½ x 8¼ inches, red cloth backed white boards, full page repeat colour plate on upper cover (young girl lying on grass holding a bunch of grapes), pages: (12), 161.
