Jepsen chose to begin this series with records beginning with the letter M (volume 5), following to the end of the alphabet, starting again from letter A, and continuing through to letter L. Jepsen explains his desire to do so in the foreword to volume 5: "It seems that the greatest of all discographies, 'Jazz Directory,' has stopped publication in the middle of the letter 'L,' and although I know I cannot reach the high standard of 'Jazz Directory' I have decided to begin this work with the letters following 'L' and to the end of the alphabet, after this I will start again from 'A'. Eight volumes are planned in all." The dates on the wrappers are relative; the author was able to use information outside of these date ranges, and more accurate ranges are listed on the front wrapper versos of volumes 4c and 4d, the last of the first eight volumes to be published. Very Good plus in pale green printed wrappers, with light soil, toning to the extremities, and light creasing to the spine.

He also wrote discographies for example for the Swedish "Orkesterjournalen". Jepsen's goal was to continue the jazz discography of the English discographers around Albert McCarthy . His discographies were published by Karl Knudsen, the founder of Storyville Records . The main work of Jepsen "Jazz Records 1942 - 1965". [1] builds on manuscripts that circulated from around 30 collectors worldwide from 1972. It was founded in 1977 by the Dane continued Erik Raben, who extended the time frame to 1980 ( "Jazz Records from 1942 to 1980") ".

Second edition, dated April, 1960 (so stated on first page). Stapled wrappers. Printed on rectos only. Published in Denmark. One-page biography by Ditlevsen. About very good condition, upper corners of some pages turned down. This copy has been gone through and annotated by a Parker fan of the time, sometimes in pencil, sometimes in ink. Some comments are pithy ("lousy orchestral background - dated - leaden"), some flesh out the information given, mention performances heard on radio or not released, etc. Verso of one page was used to mount a relevant clipping; the tape used has decayed, and the clipping has been remounted with acid-free tape. The extra content of this copy would probably be very rewarding to someone doing further research on the subject, hence we regard the annotations not as a defect, but a plus.
