Softcover. Zustand: g- to vg. First edition. Oblong 12mo (6 1/2 x 9 1/2"). 44pp. Original illustrated wrappers. Written by the cartoonist Boris Yefimov, and graphic artist and art critic Mark Lvovich Ioffe, this work is the first Hungarian edition of the history of Kukryniksy, a group of three anti-fascist graphic artists, illustrators of the satirical magazine "Krokodil," and the most important propaganda cartoonists of the USSR. The name Kukryniksy is an acronym formed from the names of the three artists and friends: Mikhail Kupriyanov, Porfiri Krylov, Nikolai Sokolov. The cartoons featured in this book cover the period starting with Nazi Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union (1941) to the present (1952). While the wartime cartoons are all anti-Nazi, the post-WWII ones reflect the "Cold War" between Russia and the Western democracies with its anti-Tito, anti-American, and anti-Capitalists illustrations. Some age-toning and creasing along edges of wrappers. Lower front corner bumped, thus slightly affecting pages throughout. Text in Hungarian. Wrappers in overall good- to good, interior in good+ to very good condition.

Hardcover. Zustand: g+ to vg. First edition. Quarto. Unpaginated, 63 leaves. Original spiral-bound block glued to back board of red half cloth over illustrated boards with black and white lettering on cover, as issued. Title page printed in red and black. Luxury edition of this Soviet cold war propaganda publication with introduction by Joseph Stalin. Strong, provocative propaganda drawings portraying the Western Alliance as war mongers who are directing their aggressions towards the Soviet Union and other countries, often employing Nazi imagery to demonize the Alliance. The Democratic principles of the West often are depicted as being overwhelmed and held captive by capitalistic greed. The full page drawings by Boris Yefimov (1899 or 1900 2008), a Jewish Ukrainian political cartoonist and chief illustrator of the newspapers "Izvestia," are basic offset reproductions of his drawings with meticulous red and black "overprinting." Text in Hungarian. Light wear along edges of binding and slight sunning and rubbing. Two leaves with drawings loose but present. Block generally with light age-toning along edges not affecting images. Binding in overall good+, interior in very good condition.
