Original colour lithograph map (49.5 x 99.5 cm) laid onto new cloth. Very good condition. Original vintage advertising poster featuring a decorative pictorial map for Chocolate Menier (founded 1816; now part of Nestle) by the French cartoonist and illustrator J. B. Jannot (Jan Loup). Colourful map of Europe and Asia with the capital cities of various countries designed as a motoring game board for children linking the cities like a route map entitled Grand Circuit Des Capitales with images of people in traditional dress, plants, animals, farming, villages and historic buildings, as well as various different boats and ships at sea with Poseidon riding a mythical sea creature on the Atlantic Ocean and a box with a red car and green scooter in the lower left corner below the stylised title text on a banner.

47x97cm. Printed in full vivid colours. Previously folded. Excellent condition. A journey through many continental European and Asian capitals is shown with typical local scenes illustrated. Some artistic licence has to be granted, however. - There was space beneath the map to fix tickets collected from Menier chocolate products, but this had been cut off and sent back to collect a prize from Menier.
