Buch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - In this book Jane Kneller focuses on the role of imagination as a creative power in Kant's aesthetics and in his overall philosophical enterprise. She analyzes Kant's account of imaginative freedom and the relation between imaginative free play and human social and moral development, showing various ways in which his aesthetics of disinterested reflection produce moral interests. She situates these aspects of his aesthetic theory within the context of German aesthetics of the eighteenth century, arguing that Kant's contribution is a bridge between early theories of aesthetic moral education and the early Romanticism of the last decade of that century. In so doing, her book brings the two most important German philosophers of Enlightenment and Romanticism, Kant and Novalis, into dialogue. It will be of interest to a wide range of readers in both Kant studies and German philosophy of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

In den WarenkorbFirst English-language Edition. Hardcover octavo, pp.,132. Unclipped laminated red wraps, publisher's black cloth, titled in silver to spine. The slightest of scuffs to jacket. Slight, even toning to edges. Near-fine. Immanuel Kant (1724 1804) was a German philosopher and one of the central thinkers of the Enlightenment. Kant's comprehensive and systematic works in epistemology, metaphysics, ethics, and aesthetics have made him one of the most influential and highly discussed figures in modern Western philosophy. In his best-known work (1781/1787), Kant explains that by a "critique of pure reason" he means a critique "of the faculty of reason in general, in respect of all knowledge after which it may strive independently of all experience" and that he aims to decide on "the possibility or impossibility of metaphysics". This volume, first published in German in 1932, is the 'fullest and most systematic' evaluation of Kant's Table of Judgements. A classic of Kant scholarship.
