This useful guide, first published in 1860, is split up into eight educational sections; Practical Geometry, Construction and use of Drawing Instruments, Stereogaphy - Descriptive Carpentry, Knowledge of Woods - Theoretical Carpentry, Practical carpentry, Joinery, Stairs and Handrailing, and a Glossary.Illustrated with vignettes throughout, and with one-hundred and eleven plates, alongside an engraved frontispiece and title page.Collated, complete.The work of James Newlands, a civil who designed and implemented the first integrated sewage system, under the Liverpool Sanatory Act. He carried out an extensive study into Liverpool, where the average life expectancy was nineteen at the time, and in 1848 his sewer system starting being built, being completed in 1869, during which the life expectancy had more than doubled.
