With approx. 10 mounted photographs on card, laid in,… including a panorama of Teller City, dated September 20, 1900. And with a copy of Hegg's Souvenir of Nome Alaska (Seattle: 1900). Folio. An album of photographs assembled by one of the principal provisioning businesses in Nome during the Gold Rush. Many of the images are signed by Nowell, others attributable to Hegg (including several that appeared within his Souvenir of Nome, the Beau Mercantile copy included), and others attributed to James A. Sciaroni, whose studio with the Miles Brothers was next door to Beau Mercantile and including a self portrait. Approximate 20 images depict indigenous peoples of the region, many by Nowell. Several images depict the Beau Mercantile stores, along with their other shipping operations, with captions that give details on the company. Street scenes show the hustle and bustle of a mining town in boom times, and harbor scenes includes those taken after major storms. A good assemblage of early Nome photography. Some images faded, but condition generally good.
