Four extant works are commonly attributed to him, as well as a possible fifth which some scholars include in compilations with much reservation. His mythography was greatly admired and highly influential throughout much of the medieval period, but it is viewed with little favour today.Aratus (c. 315 BC/310 BC ? 240) was a Greek didactic poet. His major extant work is his hexameter poem Phenomena (Ancient Greek: ?????????, Phainómena, "Appearances"; Latin: Phaenomena), the first half of which is a verse setting of a lost work of the same name by Eudoxus of Cnidus. Proclus Lycaeus (412 ? 485 AD), called the Successor (Greek ??????? ? ????????, Próklos ho Diádokhos), was a Greek Neoplatonist philosopher, one of the last major classical philosophers (see Damascius). He set forth one of the most elaborate and fully developed systems of Neoplatonism.
