The first being The Rebirth of Mendelism and the second being its extension to quantitative variation in works of Ronald Archibald Fisher entitled "The Correlation Between Relatives on the Supposition of Mendelian Inheritance". This was a reconciliation between Mendelian school of thoughts and Biometrical school of thoughts and laid the foundation of Biometrical Genetics. Since then, a non-punctuated advancement had been made in this field, which has been documented vividly in a number of literatures. However, there is always a scope for an illustrative manuscript that could provide comprehensive coverage and help the students in memorizing and inculcating the basic concepts in shortest possible time. The present book does not aim at covering the whole literature of the subject. Rather we focused on the basic concepts, formulas and an analytical approach that serve as the guiding principle in building a sound foundation of Biometrical genetics so that students can excel in various competitive exams. We have presented information that may be already available earlier books. However, we have sought new illustrative pattern for presentation of important concepts in tabular form as well as in form of points to remember. No doubt, we have also taken the opportunity to cover the sectional syllabus of ICAR- SRF, ARS and other competitive exams in Plant sciences and attempted to cover all relevant areas of Biometrical genetics.
