It covers the post slavery period of the long nineteenth century and its continuities into much of the first half of the twentieth century. From a geopolitical perspective, the essays collectively encompass the Francop…hone territories in the Indian Ocean, as well as the Anglophone, Francophone, and Dutch Caribbean and Latin America. Within almost each essay, a myriad of multidimensional issues is foregrounded.
