This work was prepared for the Bureau of Aeronautics, Department of the Navy. The Airframe Design Division of the Navy BUreaunof Aeronautics comissioned Battelle Memorial Institute to survey the then present state of knowledge and to prepare a book to provide additional help to the designer. This work was a standard design reference work after the Korean War, during a period of intense development in aeronautical design with combat aircraft expected to fly higher, faster, and be more maneuverable in flight than previously. Metal fatigue thus was one of the major risks encounted in design, test, maintenance, and combat operations. Good. No dust jacket. Date stamps inside front cover, on fep and rep. This complete series of autographs of the first 34 Presidents of the United States contains the signature of each mounted on an album leaf opposite a loosely tissue-guarded engraved portrait of each.
