Portfolio with essay on architecture and interior… decorations of the grand hotels in the quarter of Paris, followed by 20 of the at least 40 loose leaf plates called for (please note, some plates missing). Portfolio boards are quarter green cloth over marbled paper-covered boards, with gilt lettering on the spine, closed with green cloth ribbon. Elephant folio (approximately 19 inches by 13 inches). Portfolio is worn, rubbed on corners and around spine, endpapers a little tanned, hinges cracjing. Leaves and plates have some light toning and spotting, especially at edges, with the occasional mark or sign of use. Very hard to find. First Edition. Original large folio folder with blue cloth spine and gilt titles to the spine. Blue marbled boards. A little handing but in very good condition. Slight marking to the spine. Ties in good, strong condition. Complete with 39 plates. Nice title page with a vignette coat of arms. Amboise has four pages of text, with…in text diagrams, followed by 12 lovely black and white photograph of the chateau. Chenonceau has the four text pages and 14 plates. Ussé has the text and 13 plates. All photographs bar one, which is a colour reproduction of a XVIe century print tipped in. Overall, the contents are in excellent condition. Just a touch of intermittent foxing. 45cm x 33cm. .
