Rostislav Appolosovich Belyakov (1919-2014) was an Aircraft designer, Doctor of Technical Sciences, and Professor. He began his career as an aircraft designer and became a central figure in the development of many Soviet aircraft. He was twice awarded Hero of Socialist Labor. He served as the chief designer for the MiG bureau starting in 1970. He co-authored the book MiG: Fifty Years of Secret Aircraft Design. J. Marmain is a French aviation journalist and author, known for his expertise on Russian aircraft. When the story behind the Soviets' most secret aircraft design bureau and the fighter planes it produced was made public in France in 1991, the world of military aviation was abuzz with its phenomenal revelations.
