Charles Schreiner, pursued the Indians from near Kendalia to Fort Concho in West Texas. The boys were separated after their capture, and Clinton became the adopted son of Tasacowadi, a Comanche chief. Brother Jeff was sold to Geronimo, branded as his property, and traveled with Geronimo's band of Apaches. The Boy Captives was first published in 1927, when Clinton, then in his sixties, told this account of his captivity.
