In den WarenkorbCloth. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Fair. Reprint. Hardback. Slight foxing to end inside covers and top and bottom edge of cloth. Wear and tear to edges of D/J. Price clipped to D/J. Man's relationship to plants is fundamental. They are the basis of all life on earth, and they are revealed here in all their fantastic variety by some of the greatest skills in plant photography. The author has spent many years building up an extraordinary collection of quality photographs whose technical excellence and beauty are gathered here into this one tremendous volume. Almost 600 pages, 1,019 pictures, of which 48 are in colour, and extensive captions to every picture - it is a book for a lifetim. The book is designed to appeal to expert and novice alike. The index includes both scientific and general names, and there is an informative introduction by J. G. barton which tells of the importance of plants to mankind. The captions are clearly written and packed with the sort of fascinating information that even pictures cannot convey. See the bacteria that play such important roles in the economy of nature: the beautiful microscopic algae that float in astronomical numbers at the surface of the oceans: the 'living fossil' Maidenhair tree: the curious sensitive plant with leaves which fold up when touched; the fantastic flowers of the orchids; and hundreds of trees, shrubs, herbs and other plants from all over the world. Illustrated. 589 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Academic Literature.).
