Hardcover. Zustand: Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Language: Norwegian. From the dust jacket, translated from Norwegian: "A motley assembly of, among others, lawyers, priests, merchants, military and peasants - young and old, of high burden and from simple circumstances - met at Eidsvoll a few hectic weeks in 1814. Who were they who laid the foundation for our Constitution? The National Heritage Board (Riksantikvaren) has wanted to mark the Constitution Anniversary by presenting the 112 who met at Eidsvoll 200 years ago. Where in the country did they come from, what kind of background did they have, and last but not least: How did they live? As many as 111 of the Eidsvoll men's homes have been identified for the first time, and about 50 of them still exist, many in rebuilt condition. This magnificent work presents important parts of the building heritage from the early 1800s, it tells about Norwegian living and building customs and it shows how this has changed in 200 years. A total of 44 authors from all over the country tell in their own way about those who were elected to the Riksforsamlingen, their role at Eidsvoll and their houses." This copy is very fine, with just a few scratches and a tiny tear on the spine of the dust jacket. The book itself shows no signs of use. 524 pages, format 23.7 x 28.5 cm. Weight: 2.27 kg.
