Soft cover. Zustand: New. From the foreword: "Besides the popular Pancharathna kritis of Sadguru Sri Thyagabrahmam which are being sung in concerts, he has composed Kovur and Lalgudi Pancharatna songs are full of laya nuances clothed in the sahitya, tisram, misram, kantam and sankirna nadai. Like the flowing flushes in a river the tala gait moves in the avartanas rhythmically, liltingly and aesthetically. Each Pancharatna kirtana can be said to be equal to 100 songs. One who has practised properly these kirtanas gains laya mastery over singing other kirtanas, swaras neraval and also raga alapana. This can be realised from personal experience. Mahavidwans of an earlier era would not fail to include one of the Pancharatnas either after the varna or as the very first song even to-day the practice continues. Those who know all the five Pancharatnas command great respect among musicians and rasikas.".…

Soft cover. Zustand: New. From the preface: "Some years ago music education was not widespread; now where-ever we see, it is music filled in every home. People are seen learning or desiring to learn music. The root cause for all this is the publishing of books for easy universal understanding of Sangeetha Sastras, methods of music teaching and writing songs with rotation by Sangeetha Vidwans like Professor Shri P. Sambamoorthy, Shri K.V. Srinivasa Iyengar. Following them with the past eleven years of experience of teaching in Mylapore Rasika Ranjani Sabha Music School, I have compiled this book for easy learning by music students of lessons from Saptha Swaras progressively upto Swarajathis and notes.".…

Soft cover. Zustand: New. From the foreword: "Shri Muthuswami Dikshitars navagraha kirtanas are unique and are great. Once Shri Muthuswami Dikshitars' intimate shishya Thambiappan was suffering from stomach ailment. Shri Dikshitar who was also an exponent in astrology, found that his shishya was under the spell of sanigraha. Due to his love for the shishya he felt sad and composed a kirtana 'Divakara Tanujam' in Yadukula Kambhoji raga singing the praise of Sanibhagwan and worshipping him with all devotion. After singing this composition with heart and soul Dikshitar called Thambi Appan and gave him the holy pujawater. On drinking the holy water the 'shishyas' stomach ailment vanished. Thereafter, according to history, Dikshitar, in his love for mankind and its well-being, composed kirtanas on the other eight grahas to remove the obstacles due to the interaction of the grahas. Great musicians who have sung these kirtanas daily with perfect sruti and raga bhava with full devotion and belief, have experienced that the navagrahas bestow on them good things in life, protected them from diseases, made them the owners of house property and live in peace and plenty. Let us all sing these kirtanas and reap its rewards.".…
