With two pieces of ephemera: an inscribed invitation from Becky London Fleming's 79th birthday party stating "Dear Bob - It was wonderful to have you share my party - Becky" and an advertising brochure for Jack London Ranch In The Valley Of The Moon. (Sisson & Martens 24) (BAL 11886). Jack London (1876-1916) was one of the first American authors to gain international fame and accumulate wealth from his writing. Despite his popularity, London never received any literary awards for his work. London is remembered today through retellings of his stories on film and television, most recently in a movie adaptation of The Call of the Wild starring Harrison Ford. Signed.

Printed invitation to a ball, 6 ¼ x 4 inches, several sizes and styles of type employed, illustrated by cuts of two American eagles at head of text, five differing ornamental rules separate portions of text. Some smudging of ink and soiling, but very good.

Single sheet, folded. Invitation printed on first page, with three blank integral leaves. Accompanied by an unaddressed envelope, printed with "Commercial Club, / Albuquerque, N.M." on the flap. Short tear and moderate soiling to envelope; invitation headed by a nicely printed "CC" with leaf motif, is very good. The Commercial Club of Albuquerque functioned as a promoter of business and social interests in the city, and was housed in a beautiful sandstone building as elegant as any club west of Chicago (according to a 1903 report of the governor of New Mexico).

Printed invitation, 5 ½ x 3 ¾ inches, employing several styles and sizes of type. Printed below the text is a list of the ball's managers: Dr. P.E.H. Lovelace, W.O. Rodney, T.J. Dowty, T.B. Stayman, Cap. Benjamin Orr, A.P. Rodney, L.S. Robertson, T.M Skinner. Lovelace and the two Rodneys are among the signers on a circa 1852 Memorial dealing with patrols and slavery, from Wilkinson County citizens to the Mississippi Assembly. The invitation is accompanied by a printed ticket to the ball: Grand / Anniversary Ball / Admission $5.00 / February 23rd, 1855 [complete text]. Ticket is a bit discolored, otherwise both very good. Kennedy, sent to the Assistant Attorney General after Kennedy's assassination in June 1968. (illustrator). First Edition. Black wood frame, white matte, full piece measures 11.25" x 18". Not examined outside frame. Light rubbing to frame, a near fine example. The Western Union telegram was sent on June 7, 1968, inviting Assistant Attorney General J. Walter Yeagley to the funeral mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City on Saturday, June 8, 1968. The telegram also invited him to attend the interment at Arlington National Cemetery the same day. The telegram is worn and folded, as it was used for admittance to the cathedral and cemetery. The recipient of this invitation, J. Walter Yeagley (1909-1990), served on the District of Columbia Court of Appeals from 1970-1984. Before his appointment to the Court of Appeals, he was Assistant Attorney General and director of the Internal Security Division of the Justice Department. In this position, his work focused on citizens with suspected Communist affiliations, working closely with FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover. Judge Yeagley died in 1990.
