Apparent bleeding from the spine cloth has caused red staining to seve…ral inner margins. First published in 1932, this is the 4th and apparently final printing (1944), with RH Ardill's book of the same name appearing in 1945. Ingrams wrote it and a separately published "School History" (1931) while he was Assistant Colonial Secretary on Mauritius, in between his postings to Zanzibar and Aden. The Schools Committee adopted it as their official textbook for higher primary and middle secondary classes. It contains descriptions of Mauritian districts and dependencies, illustrated with photos of local scenes by Roger Halbwachs. Rare, with 6 locations for all printings on Worldcat and Library Hub (1932 at BL, Oxford, National Library of Scotland, NYPL; 1940 at National Library of Australia; and 1944 at Stellenbosch).
